From National Review:
As we go to press, a congressional bulletin tells us that: “The U.S. Capitol Holiday Tree is scheduled to arrive at the West Front of the Capitol . . . on December 1.” This year’s Holiday Tree, we are further informed, is from the Boise national forest in Idaho. It will be decorated with more than 6,000 holiday ornaments and 10,000 colored holiday lights. Residents of Washington, D.C., will be able to admire the Holiday Tree as they bustle around doing their holiday shopping. Many of us will, of course, decorate our own homes with holiday lights and holiday wreaths. In our living rooms we shall put up holiday trees very much like the Capitol’s Holiday Tree, though of course much smaller. Under our holiday trees we shall pile holiday presents. To our friends and loved ones we shall send holiday cards. Perhaps we shall take our children to see a holiday show—a stage performance of Charles Dickens’s much-loved fable A Holiday Carol, perhaps. On Holiday Eve we may be serenaded by carol singers with “The Twelve Days of Holiday” or “We Wish You A Merry Holiday!” Then we shall read the little ones to sleep with Clement Clarke Moore’s classic poem “’Twas the night before Holiday.” On Holiday itself we shall open our holiday presents and eat our holiday dinner, then settle down to watch the holiday specials on TV. Remember, Holiday comes but once a year, so—Merry Holiday!

President-General of the International Muslims Organization, said that the bombing of Afghanistan would create a thousand bin Ladens, whereas the other day Egypt's President Mubarak said that the bombing of Iraq would create a hundred bin Ladens. So right there you've got a 90% reduction in the bin Laden creation program -- just by bombing a second country!

Today was officially Christmas lights and decorations day. Eric helped David with the outdoor lights, then helped Betsy put up the tree, the rest of the decorations, and of course the Lego train around the tree!

Very good article here on wireless networks. 802.11b is great for internet, inadequate for streaming video: PCWorld.com - Warp-Speed Wireless: "While even 11b is faster than your broadband connection to the Internet, 11g's extra throughput lets you more easily transfer large files across office and home networks and even stream video from computer to computer"
About this blog:
Hope you enjoy what you see here.
This is the primary method I use of communicating interesting stuff I find on the internet. As I surf around and find stuff I like, or interesting reading materials, I blog it here. So it is full of stuff I want for Christmas, a funny joke or two, other interesting links, and an occassional really good political article.
(Hint: any time you see a different colored, underlined word or phrase it is a link to another site. Merely click on it and it will take you there.) Betsy occassionally contributes, and I'm sure will do so more often.
There are permanent links on the right hand side that I enjoy looking at every day.
Hope you enjoy what you see here.
Here is the Mozilla site. For a little history, this is the team that created Netscape Navigator which made the world wide web accessible to the masses. Microsoft then used its OS monopoly to capture 90% of the market. Naturally, once they captured the market, M$ stopped developing new features in their Internet Explorer browser. The Mozilla project is open-source development, and they have created a really enjoyable to use browser.
I am currently using Firebird, which is the browser component of Mozilla. Mozilla 1.5 includes newsreader and E-mail as well. It's a great package. Read about it here: mozilla - home of the mozilla, firebird, and camino web browsers

A Day in the Life of a Puppy
12:37 AM: Thought I heard something outside so I barked and barked and barked until Betsy was awake to check it out!
1:19 AM: A shadow moved across the window! It could be an attack! I howled and barked for 5 minutes straight until David told me to "shut up!" See if I warn him again! I hope whatever is out there eats him! =(
2:58 AM: Definitely heard something that time! Barked at top of my lungs until both of my owners woke up! I could tell they were awake because my David threw a shoe at me as a reward! I chewed on it for 30 minutes before I fell asleep. And I thought he was mad at me. I have a lot to learn!
4:11 AM: Lots of rain and really loud noise outside with bright flashes of light! I cried and whimpered and jumped in the bed!
6:02 AM: My owners are awake and they're taking me outside! Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! I jumped around everywhere to celebrate! I came that close to wee-weeing right there on the floor because I was so excited. But I didn't because I'm a good boy!!!
6:59 AM: They gave me food! They gave me food! They gave me food! They gave me food! Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! Jumped around to celebrate!
11:42 AM: Betsy bent down to pick me up and I licked her in the mouth! I thought she would taste like chicken...but she doesn't =(
12:13 PM: They locked me up in the laundry room and everybody left =( Maybe they're never coming back =( sniff, sniff, sniff
12:14 PM: Hey, there's all kinds of fun stuff to play with and eat in this rectangular toy chest! =)
3:36 PM: I thought I heard them coming! Barked for 15 straight minutes! But it wasn't them =( =(
4:02 PM: Ooooooh that's them for sure! It is, it is, it is! Barked for 15 straight minutes! But it wasn't them =( =( =(
5:15 PM: They're back!! Hooray! Hooray!! This is the best day of my entire life!! They're back!! They're back!! Jumped and barked for joy!! Hooray =D
5:24 PM: They're taking me outside! I didn't think it could get better...but it did!!
5:28 PM: I pooped in the yard and Betsy said I was a good dog!!! I'm the best dog...ever!!!!
6:30 PM: They gave me food! They gave me food! They gave me food! They gave me food! Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! Jumped around to celebrate!
6:41 PM: The boy left his Legos on the floor. They sure are crunchy! Why is he always yelling at me. =( =(
9:01 PM: Ran out of water in my bowl but found another source!
9:33 PM: Realized I hadn't chased my tail once today! I wondered where the day went as I chewed on the curtains.
10:19 PM: I get to go outside...AGAIN!! I can't believe it! Jumped around and barked because I was so happy!!!!
10:25 PM: It was raining outside! I got all wet and muddy! So I jumped on the couch and shook myself dry! David called me a bad boy =( =( =(
11:02 PM: I tried to make it up to him by licking him on the eye! He told me to "stop that" so I tried to lick him on the mouth instead. He said "Ugggh" then. What does it mean??? What does it mean??
11:48 PM: They're going to bed! They're going to bed! They're going to bed! I love to sleep! It's better than pooping and licking myself in front of company put together!
12:37 AM: Thought I heard something outside so I barked and barked and barked until Betsy was awake to check it out!...

More Dean wisdom about the South
Tallahassee Democrat | 11/05/2003 | Graham on 'short list' for VP spot: "Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean said Tuesday that Southerners must stop basing their votes on 'race, guns, God and gays' and forge a multiracial coalition that focuses next year's presidential election on jobs, health care and a foreign policy reflecting American values."

FIRE RON ZOOK NOW!
It's all over the state now. Everyone thinks that idiot Ron Zook needs to go immediately. Whether it's the Gainesville Sun, St. Pete Times, Orlando Sentinel, Tampa Tribune, Miami Herald, or even the Palm Beach Post they are saying he has to go.
Best quote is from the Palm Beach Post: "The Southeastern Conference has finally found a coach who can beat Florida twice in a row -- Ron Zook."

I sent out invitations for Larry, Connie and Eric to join in. I figure once we debug it, we may want to invite Leslie and Family and Betsy's family in. The idea is to share interesting things, ideas, wants, needs, or a great link on the web. There are a few examples of this below.
You can follow a link to see an Island Packet 370 for instance. Once you get the hang of it it's kinda fun.
You can post what you really want for Christmas like a car, or a trip or even some of these.
Anyway, I hope this might be something people like to use. Especially with Christmas coming up. Too many ideas fly around and are forgotten about. Here is a tool to share some of them.
